In ogni caso è sicuro che il plugin nella sua forma attuale non presenta un’anomalia di questo tipo – sia perché lo uso anch’io e non riscontro alcun problema, sia perché un plugin con quel livello di popolarità sarebbe già corso ai ripari (a meno che tu, appunto, non abbia una versione vecchissima – indicare le versioni giuste dei software quando si fa una domanda è fondamentale).
Occorre quindi che tu faccia chiarezza su ciò che stai sperimentando o vedi, e che tu faccia correttamente le prove richieste nel box qui sotto se è vero che alcuni articoli “scompaiono” effettivamente, e non che magari hai qualche impostazione, manuale o data da un plugin, che li esclude dalla lista. Il non vederli in una lista, infatti, non equivale alla loro non-esistenza.
Poco chiaro anche quando dici che nella homepage sono presenti tutti gli articoli. Vuoi dire che visitando il sito lato front-end non manca niente? A maggior ragione sarà un’impostazione effettuata nel back-end, ma anche questo dice poco dato che una certa visione può dipendere anche da fattori come quelli dati dalla cache di un plugin di cache, dal browser e quindi dall’essere collegati o no, o da altri effetti che non hai appurato o di cui non metti a conoscenza.

Comunque il file di configurazione di WP in connessione con il database è il wp-config e puoi sempre controllare che non presenti anomalie o caratteri strani. Se è vero che è lo stesso indipendentemente dalla versione PHP, è anche vero che alcune manovre automatiche fatte dal pannello di gestione possono alterare proprio quel file, in un modo non visibile ad esempio via FTP.
TittiModeratoreNon è un problema di WordPress. Le versioni PHP 7.0.26, 7.1.12 e 7.2 hanno introdotto alcune modifiche sul metodo di conteggio dei riferimenti delle stringhe, e queste possono creare gravi errori con alcuni plugin.
Soluzioni:
– individuare il/i plugin che causa/causano problemi facendo le prove indicate nel box qui sotto
– rivolgersi al supporto di detto o detti plugin che avranno sicuramente già riscontrato il problema
– tornare temporaneamente alla versione 5.6 in attesa che il problema sia risolto da parte dell’autore del plugin (o dagli sviluppatori del PHP)
– oppure tener disattivato/i il/i plugin problematico/i

Non è dunque riscontrabile nessun problema.

TittiModeratoreDevi fare le solite prove indicate qui sotto in carattere rosso nel box che ormai dovresti conoscere. Quando avrai disattivato tutti i plugin, attivato un tema di default della serie Twenty e pulito le varie cache, scoprirai quale plugin causa l’errore riattivandoli uno ad uno e controllando ogni volta.

I tab che vedi tu sono gli stessi che vedo io e no, non vedo e quindi non c’è nessuna categoria di “stellati” (e nemmeno ricordo com’era prima dato che è una pagina che non frequento, e poi il parametro stelle sarebbe alquanto relativo e soggettivo).

Se ad es. torna un errore del tipo “cannot redeclare” significa che c’è già una inclusione nel tema padre e quindi non puoi usare require_once.
Nel caso in cui però l’autore abbia inserito la funzione che ti interessa tra if ( ! function_exists(…, allora puoi sovrascriverla e quindi risolveresti copiandola e modificandola nel functions del tuo tema child: questo è l’unico caso in cui una funzione può essere ri-dichiarata. Tutte cose che puoi già anticipare guardando i file del tema padre, e da attuare sono mediamente accessibili anche a chi non mastica codice, sempre previo backup.
L’autore del tuo tema è colui che meglio lo conosce e puoi anche chiedere direttamente a lui come è meglio fare per sovrascrivere file nelle sottocartelle.
Se la via sopra detta non è attuabile ci possono essere altre soluzioni ma sono più complesse. Una è quella di copiare la funzione (se è isolata), metterla nel child, modificarla e rinominarla, guardando poi dov’è richiamata nel template del genitore, copiare anche quel file nel child e rinominarla con la tua.
Un’altra è quella di sfruttare le API di WP, come si fa per i plugin: https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API, se il codice che vuoi modificare è dentro do_action(…) o apply_filters(…)

TittiModeratoreLeggere cosa offre (quando ci sono plugin incorporati ci dovrebbe essere scritto), leggere eventuali recensioni e provarlo su un sito test clone del sito in produzione (intendo anche stesso server e stessa versione PHP). Non vedo quale altro sistema possa esserci, soprattutto quando non si sa nulla di codice.
Se si vuole un tema su misura lo si fa fare, oppure si prende un tema base minimalista, detto anche starter theme, e lo si fa sviluppare nelle parti che interessano.
Naturalmente un tema, come un plugin, è tanto più leggero quanti meno file ha, soprattutto di css e js, ma la leggerezza non assicura che sia ben scritto.
I temi free della directory di WP hanno più garanzie rispetto a un tema pescato in giro.
