Scusami, non volevo apparire cosଠtanto ingenua.
In effetti ho fatto casino solo a copincollare il codice nel post. Quello che ho modificato è esattamente quello che mi stai dicendo tu:

sotto a:

e che c’era scritto nel link ma comunque non funzionava e visto che Titti mi aveva confermato che la strada era giusta, immaginavo che il problema fosse nel css ma nel rispetto anche del forum, volevo provare ad arrangiarmi ma non riuscivo.
Però ti sono molto grata per avermi aiutato a capire che era in:
#branding img {display: inline;}
Infatti io nel css avevo #branding img {display: block;}
Ed era questo che spostava tutto a dx.

elnPartecipantePerfetto! Grazie mille! Ho fatto le modifiche che mi hai indicato risalendo alle righe giuste del codice da modificare perché avevo già fatto altre personalizzazioni al template child e non potevo cancellare tutto.
Ed era esattamente quello che volevo. Sei stato molto gentile.
Ti chiedo una cosa, è corretto inserire solo le righe di codice che cambiano rispetto al tema principale? Io sto procedendo cosଠperché avevo capito che altrimenti ci fosse una ridondanza di codice ma dalle tue indicazioni mi sembra che nn sia importante.
Poi vorrei chiederti altre cose che riguardano la personalizzazione di questo template ma apro un altro post perché a questo punto è un altro argomento.

Però adesso come faccio a togliere il search principale?
Inoltre non me lo allinea alle altre voci di menù e non so quale classe del css modificare.

Ho infatti modificato il foglio stile del template child in questo modo:

Ti chiedo però una cosa:
non c’è un modo per incorporare il search form all’interno del menù invece che agendo sul foglio stile?
Cosଠcome avviene quando dall’aspetto disabilito la funzione ‘Testo della testata’?
Lo chiedo perché ad esempio in un menù con diverse voci accade che con un mobile si vada poi a sovrapporre alle voci di menù.

elnPartecipanteHo provato ad arrangiarmi. Non so se sia la strada corretta ma ho usato questi plugin: My Category Order e Advanced Category Excluder, che comunque mi risolvono il problema.
elnPartecipanteScusami hai ragione. Pensavo non fosse necessario aprire un altro post perché la domanda è inerente a quello che avevo già scritto cioè inserire un secondo widget. Avevo appunto provato due plugin da voi conisgliati in un vecchio post tra cui quello indicato ma mi è venuto il dubbio fosse obsoleto.
elnPartecipantequalcuno sa se il plugin Breukie’s categories è compatibile con WP 3.0.1? Come mai una volta attivato non mi cambia le opzioni ma le lascia come di default?

Ora che l’ho trovata ho fatto cosà¬: ho preso la cartella languages che ovviamente conteneva già la localizzazione italiana, l’ho messa dove indicato e cioè sotto wp-content. Ho scaricato il file wp-config.php installato sul mio hosting, l’ho modificato come indicato alla voce -define (‘WPLANG’,”)- con -define (‘WPLANG’,’it_IT’).
Ora finalmente ce l’ho in italiano.
