Ciao a tutti,
ho appena ricevuto (per la seconda volta) questa mail da parte dello staff Aruba, ove ho un’hosting Linux con 3 installazioni di WordPress:
Gentile cliente,
il dominio a lei intestato adverbox.com ha creato problemi al server Linux su cui risiede a causa di applicativi in esso inseriti.
E’ stata rinominata la pagina index.php in NON_USARE_index.php per fermare le
richieste errate ed esose verso le risorse di sistema.
La invitiamo a riverificare tutta l’applicazione in modo dettagliato.
In caso il reinserimento dell’applicazione causi nuovamente problemi al server, il suo dominio verra’ temporaneamente bloccato, verra’ inviato un avviso e la riattivazione del dominio sara’ subordinata alla definitiva rimozione dell’applicazione.
Ora, la prima volta ho eliminato phpadsnew (che era proibito, ma non lo sapevo) e pensavo fosse quello il problema.
Stavolta non ho idea di che cosa si tratti.
La prima installazione di wp è nella cartella principale, i plugin che ho installati e attivati attualmente sono (a parte quelli di default):

Google analitycator

Infine, il blog riceve circa 110mila hits per mese.
Qualcuno ha un’idea del perchè stavolta ci siano problemi col server? La volta scorsa ho disattivato e rimosso phpadsnew e risolto il tutto.

110mila hits mi fa pensare a qualche plugin per statistiche, ma google analyticator dovrebbe puntare all’esterno, però è anche vero che all’inizio ha dato problemi.
Oppure il problema potrebbe venire da Inline pingbacks and trackbacks che genera traffico verso i siti che linki e/o che ti linkano oppure ancora da Custom query string che potrebbe affaticare il database con qualche query scritta male…
non saprei anche perché Aruba non dice esattamente dove si va a verificare il problema, se nel filesystem o nel database, e se il traffico generato influisce sulle prestazioni del server.
Hai modo di provare disattivando i plugin uno alla volta e vedere se il problema persiste?

Potrei provare a rispondere ad alcune domande essendomi scontrato 2 volte con segnalazioni di questo tipo:
Aruba non specifica niente e fare delle prove non si può perchè le pagine non sono accessibili completamente.
Quindi si potrebbe provare ad eliminare tutti i plugin e scrivere ad aruba di riattivare, ma potrebbe non funzionare.
Il problema vero sta nel fatto che un server contiene una quantità enorme di siti e quindi la macchina viaggia a livelli di carico già di per se critici.
Anche se indicassero la pagina che genera il crash sarebbe difficile arrivare ad un plugin.
Nell’eliminare qualcosa punta a tutti quei plugin che generano traffico da e per il tuo sito.

Se non ricordo male, tempo fa, avevo sentito che Aruba cerca di scoraggiare i siti con volumi di traffico eccessivi e, sempre se non ricordo male, questa cosa comportò la chiusura del sito dell’ utente “incriminato” ( che riportava la cosa che ti sto riferendo ). Allora mi chiedo: se fosse questo il problema?
Prendi la cosa con le pinze … ma magari facci un pensierino.

Chiaramente Aruba non offre un servizio tale da sopportare grandi traffici, per questo potrebbe spinger eper una soluzione di housing.
Penso che i problemi alla macchina si verifichino davvero, ma che questi sono favoriti da un intasamento assurdo (migliaia di domini su una stessa macchina)

Boh? Anche io ho pensato la stessa cosa (faccio troppo traffico e stanno cercando di vendermi l’housing).
Fra l’altro, un mesetto prima di inviarmi tali segnalazioni, le persone di aruba mi hanno inviato una serie di mail promozionali su soluzioni di housing, il che mi fa riflettere.
Per il momento ho fatto questo: eliminato il blog sotto la directory “Channel”, che conteneva un plugin aggregatore di rss feed (funziona con un cronjob impostato su webcron.org). Il plugin faceva questo tipo di lavoro: aggregava materiali da una ventina di feed rss e li risputava fuori sotto forma di post wordpress completi, con crediti alla fonte e tutto. Il cronjob faceva un refresh ogni ora.
Vediamo se in questo modo la cosa si risolve. In ogni caso se è come abbiamo detto prima – che faccio troppo traffico (e spero vivamente che non sia cosà¬), mi tocca chiudere il blog, dato che non posso spendere cifre astronomiche.
se il problema è quello c’è un’altra considerazione da fare: quando aruba fornisce il servizio di hosting, dovrebbe mettere dei paletti di traffico / banda, almeno si saprebbe dall’inizio quanto si può consumare. Ma come ho detto, spero che non sia cosଅ

Per quello che è la mia esperienza rimango dell’idea che, comunque, il problema al server il tuo spazio lo generasse davvero.
La banda non credo sia un problema se non che, passata una determinata soglia (che personalmente ritengo tarata intorno ai 5GB/mese) si verifichino dei “tagli” alla velocità di caricamento del tuo sito.
Se non hai esigenze di spazio disco eccessive ti consiglio di migrare verso altri host.
Io questo non lo posso fare perchè il mio blog richiede circa 3GB di spazio disco e, a costi contenuti, non lo trovo (accetto consigli).

SOLUZIONE:
sbarazzati di aruba.
L’ ultima volta che ho acquistato un loro servizio sono stato praticamente raggirato.
