Cosa ci guadagna effettivamente il mio sito se spunto la casella “Permetti Ping” per ogni post che ormai vado ad aggiungere quasi quotidianamente?
Ho provato a leggere sia la guida in inglese linkata sotto (nell’immagine), e sia i vari post a riguardo in italiano che ho trovato con Google, ma ci ho capito veramente ben poco.
Mi spiegate “con il cucchiaino” la differenza tra i pingback e i trackback e la casella da spuntare a quale dei due fa riferimento?

Per ping si intendono sia pingback che trackback, e se spunti la casella nelle impostazioni, non dovrai più farlo per ogni post.
I pingback sono le notifiche di quando qualcuno linka il tuo post nel suo (con il permalink), i trackback sono la stessa cosa, ma senza bisogno che sia presente un link nel post altrui, basta inserire nell’apposita casella di testo il link di trackback del tuo post.
Cosa ci guadagni? Nulla, soprattutto se non hai post citati da tutti. Altrimenti rendi più visibili i tuoi post e crei utilità a chi cerca qualcosa permettendo di concatenare post di varie persone sullo stesso argomento.
Se non li permetti potrai avere meno spam, ma ci sono filtri appositi (oltre Akismet) proprio per i ping.

Grazie per la tua risposta, però una parte non mi è chiara:
i trackback sono la stessa cosa, ma senza bisogno che sia presente un link nel post altrui, basta inserire nell’apposita casella di testo il link di trackback del tuo post.
Devo mettere un link di trackback nella casella di testo del mio post? Che senso ha?

No, nella casella di testo SOTTO il post, quella dei trackback (se non è visibile, devi espanderla, ma c’è).
Ovviamente devi mettere il link di trackback al post che “pinghi”? (ed è permalinkdelpost/trackback/)

Quindi praticamente per dire ad un altro blogger che ho citato il suo sito nel mio blog, posso linkarlo in maniera classica cioè incollando il suo permalink nel mio post, oppure posso incollare il suo trackback nel campo trackback della pagina che sto creando/modificando.
Ho capito bene?
Però mi sembra di capire che mentre con i pingback c’è un url visibile a tutti gli utenti, i trackback sono visibili solo al webmaster che li riceve?

Sà¬, ma normalmente i ping compaiono come commenti al post al quale sono inviati, senza distinguere tra pingback e trackback.

PS: Sai in che modo posso abilitare i ping in maniera automatica a tutti i post (circa 500!) del mio sito?
