Hi,
la notizia buona è che usando il tema Kubrick, default, sul mio sistema la localizzazione appare assai completa.
Prob è che uso il tema super-fantastico Sandbox che permette di controllare praticamente tutta la formattazione, cioè l’aspetto visivo, dal CSS come è giusto che sia. Lo fa tramite la creazione di classes and ids semantiche. Vorrei usare Sandbox da ora in avanti per tutte le istallazioni di WP che farò (e scrivere dei CSS personalizzati per ogni sito) perché è veramente l’uovo di Colombo lavorare in questo modo anziché mettersi a hackerare il codice dei core files.
Per chi Sandbox ancora non lo conosce, lo raccomando altamente. Tra l’altro si mormora che sarà il prossimo tema di default. Di sicuro è veramente un piacere usarlo, a differenza di Kubrick (che è di un’inconsistenza irritante) e tutto il resto dei temi che ti costringono irremediabilmente di intervenire sui core files per ottenere l’aspetto visivo che desideri. E quel che succede al primo aggiornamento tutti lo sapete.
Non voglio mai più toccare i core files di WP!
Mi sapete indirizzare verso una soluzione?
Purtroppo non so nulla di PO e MO tranné che sembra lଠil problema. Mi sapreste indicare qualche fonte di info su questi files (in inglese va benone) che sia scritto per principianti totali come me? Ho provato con il codex di WP ma non mi ha aiutato un granché.
Ovviamente non ho alcun problema a trovare le parole non localizzate nel HTML e/o PHP e tradurrle. Ma come avrete capito è proprio questo che vorrei evitare tramite un uso corretto di CSS, MO e PO.
C’è speranza?

cerca localizzazione o poedit e trovi tutto
e si esatto il problema è proprio localizzare sandbox
adesso lo guardo e poi ti faccio sapere

beh, evidentemente la user experience conta tantissimo: io non ci trovo nulla di particolare in sandbox.
Un tema troppo basico per chi vuole personalizzarlo e non ha le basi, K2 è molto più personalizzabile già da pannello.
E chi ha le basi per farsi un tema, se lo fa di sana pianta
Sandbox mi sembra “nudo”…

@brigitte: cosa intendi per core files di WP? non mi pare che per cambiare l’aspetto visivo e la localizzazione dei temi si debbano modificare i core files (che non andrebbero modificati mai). Mentre se intendi quelli dei temi, beh, sono lଠapposta per essere modificati

Se si usa la versione inglese di WP il tema è in inglese non è localizzato perchè il testo è codificato direttamente nel tema senza funzioni di localizzazione, nel pacchetto italiano (salvo mio errore per l’ultima versione) il tema è in italiano.
Forse verrà aggiunta alla prossima distribuzione luna copia del tema in versione internazionalizzata e con relativo file di lingua cosଠda dare un esempio per chi desiderasse creare un proprio tema in versione internazionalizzata e con i relativi file di lingua

siete fantastici: tante risposte circostanziate in poco tempo. Grazie.
Evidentemente ho tanta confusione in testa, WP è il primo CMS con cui mi confronto. Uso da sempre il Mac e quindi sono viziata dalla sua user friendliness. Attualmente sto su un G5, PPC, Tiger. Vi prego di avere pazienza con chi fa i suoi primi passi nel mondo NIX e Open Source.
@wolly: letto i tuoi utilissimi interventi, istallato PoEdit. Mi scuso di non averli letti prima di postare, ma l’interfaccia utente di wp.it non è dei più intuitivi. Ben volentieri collaborerò con le prossime localizzazioni, se riesco a capire cosa fare e come. Parlo bene inglese e italiano. Fammi sapere dove devo mettere le mani con la Sandbox. L’interfaccia admin me la trovo già in italiano con i vostri MO e PO. Ma non capisco perché in Sanbox certe cose sono tradotte e altre no. Quale file/files devo aprire in PoEdit per trovare le parole inglesi che non obbediscono al vostro MO e PO?
@degra: Tra me e i CSS è stato amore a prima vista quando li ho incontrati anni fa. Nella nudità di Sandbox sta la sua forza
Mi permette di personalizzare drasticamente e rapidamente le pagine, senza dover sgomberare i theme files da tutta la spazzatura che ci hanno messo i vari autori.
Sono standardista e accessibilista convinta. Qui in Italia abbiamo una bellissima legge, la legge Stanca del 2004. Faccio del mio meglio per rispettarla.

Quel che so di sicuro è che succede il finimondo in occasione di upgrade se ti metti a hackerare il Kubrick come consigliano sulle pagine codex di WP. Perciò voglio controllare tutto da style.css e Sandbox me lo permette alla grande. Purtroppo però accetta la localizzazione solo in parte e quindi il motivo del mio primo posting.
@SteveAgl: Mi sono fatta le ossa con WP istallandola e personalizzandola ripetute volte su localhost e server remoti (LINUX) nella versione inglese/Kubrick e servendomi delle pagine codex su wp.org per imparare come tutto funziona. L’esperienza è stata molto piacevole perché potevo svolgere tutto in una lingua sola, per di più quella originale. Ma mi è sfuggito completamente il problema della localizzazione e l’esistenza di “funzioni di localizzazione”.
Pensavo che bastasse scaricare il vostro pacchetto localizzato.

Non mi interessa di andare online rapidamente con un blog italiano, ma di capire come tutto funziona.

I core files sono i file “di sistema” di WordPress. Cioè quelli che contengono le funzioni che vengono usate per gestire e far funzionare il CMS.
E sono quelli che vengono aggiornati durante gli aggornamenti, e contenuti in /wp-admin.
I temi possono e devono essere manipolati perchè sono la parte personalizzabile: il css si occupa solo della parte grafica (che non è poco), ma se non dico a WP dove inserire il loop, richiamare le categorie, il blogroll ecc. direttamente nei file del tema, non si potrà fare molto.
Ovvio che usando Kubrik succede il finimondo: ad ogni aggiornamento, vengono aggiornati anche i temi di default (tra cui, appunto, Kubrik) e le modifiche fatte vanno perse.
Io, finora, ho provato parecchi temi, ma uelli fatti dagli altri non mi soddisfano mai, e allora ho “portato” su WP quello che avevo fatto per Splinder (non rabbrividite a leggere WordPress e Splinder nello stesso post ), ovviamente intervenendo parecchio sul css.
Però (soprattuto a causa dei “li” che vengono usati dalle funzioni di WP, come nel blogroll o nelle categorie) i miei temi non sono mai validati.
Ma non mi pongo il problema: i pincipali browser lo vedono perfettamente, e dovrebbe essere accessibile…
Evidentemente SandBox non è localizzato, come non lo sono i miei temi, se non per il poco che viene lasciato alle funzioni di WP, per cui se si ha WP localizzato, si leggeranno in italiano solo poche cosine, il resto è nel tema. Ma basta poco per internazionlizzarlo, leggendo la guida all’uso di PoEdit qui nel Wiki.

allora ho accertato che Sandbox e ben preparata per la localizzazione, strapiena di underscores e doppie underscores. Purtroppo non è incluso il POT nella distribuzione. Ho tentato di crearlo da me seguendo le istruzioni che mi indicate sopra.
Per ora il risultato è negativo.
PoEdit nella sua versione Mac 1.3.9.1 funziona proprio bene su Tiger ma:
__ se inserisco . come BASEPATH/PATH (che da voi viene ripetute volte suggerito nel forum) parte diligentemente e crea una sfiza di parole prendendole dalla directory di Gallery2. In ultimo evidentemente ha dei dubbi sul suo operato e lo sfondo dell’interfaccia diventa verde pisello. Poi mi compare una finestra con l’avviso
(lunga serie di dashes) Invero non molto informativa. Ignoro perché Gallery2 incontra il gusto di PoEdit. Comunque avevo dei dubbi che un semplice punto potesse indicare a PoEdit come trovare la directory sandbox, visto che ho parecchie istallazioni di WP e altra roba sul mio localhost. Ho ripetuto l’inserimento del . molte volte con uguale risultato curioso ma inutile alla mia bisogna.__ se invece inserisco il path alla directory come farei se lavorassi in BBEdit (faccio per esempio) allora PoEdit mi informa che non ci sono tali files. Ovviamente in inglese, visto che mi guardo bene dal cambiare la lingua di interfaccia eliminando cosଠuna possibile fonte di bugs.
Dove sto sbagiando?
Cosa intende PoEdit per BASEPATH?
Qual’è la differenza tra PATH e BASEPATH?
E magari: perché . conduce a Gallery2?
Le ultime tre domande sono retoriche. Mi basterebbe qualche altra dritta per poter andare avanti. Sandbox e WP lo meritano

Del perchè indicando . si sposti su un’altra directory non ne ho proprio idea, ma se prendi il tema lo porti in una dir fuori da WP a livello di root e provi a generare il file da la non sarebbe meglio ?
Ovviamente il file POT è all’interno della directory del tema vero?

finalmente! Da pochi secondi ho vittoriosamente generato il mio primo file POT e quindi posso procedere.

No, che non lo era, dato che lo dovevo ancora creare. <== notare ragionamento da principiante
Ora ho capito: per “file essere nella dir” voi intendete “invocare la finestra di salvataggio e ivi indicare la dir sandbox come destinazione del POT da creare”.
Elementare per chi parla NIX e OpenSource Sto imparando.
