Ho acquistato un tema per wordpress ma non riesco a far funzionare nessun plugin che mi faccia vedere una google map.
Ne ho provati diversi e testandoli o non funzionano per niente o comunque funzionano male. Provando con il tema standard di wordpress 3.0 non ho nessun problema, funzionano tutti.
Ho chiesto assistenza al creatore del tema già da giorni ma la risposta tarda a venire.
Vorrei provare a vedere se riesco a risolvere per conto mio.
Secondo voi cosa dovrei guardare in particolare? Cos’è che può andare in conflitto?

Ho acquistato un navigatore e la mappa non si vede, che può essere?
Vedi se il quesito è troppo generico sarà difficile che qualcuno risponda; servono indicazioni più chiare..
Comunque, in via di massima, e sempre che il tema che hai acquistato non sia stato creato molto specifico alla pubblicazione di qualcosa di diverso dalla solita pubblicazione di pagine e post. Che so, ad esempio, se compro un tema fatto per pubblicare equazioni e formule matematiche, poi questo potrebbe avere qualche problema con una mappa..
Quindi se è un tema come tanti procedi cosà¬:
1. installi il plugin XML Google Maps di Patrick Matusz (cioè il migliore in assoluto e diffusissimo);
2. fermi tutti i plugin e fai andare solo lui con il tuo tema;
3. adesso le cose son due o la mappa funge o non va;
Nel caso non va ti armi di pazienza e scrivi all’ideatore del tema, dicendogli che quel plugin (attivato da solo, questo è molto importante per evitare eventuali conflitti) non funge con il suo pupillo.
Se a questo punto l’autore del template non sarà in grado di mettere a posto le cose, giacché il prodotto non è free ma a pagamento, è molto probabile che invece che fare temi doveva zappar la terra.

Hai ragione, mancavano un po’ di elementi
Ho provato a installare XML Google Maps per fare la prova che mi suggerisci ma non riesco a capire come inserire la mappa nel post…
Ho letto il link ma non ho capito
Su google map cerco l’indirizzo che mi interessa e ho un link del tipo http://goo.gl/maps/GE2P
Dopodichè cosa devo fare?
Se inserisco quel link sul mio post ho semplicemente il link a google maps e non la mappa stessa, devo fare un file xml? posso generarlo automaticamente da google maps o come posso fare?

Devi avere un account con google e prelevare l’api (si fa dalla pagina del plugin). Permette di inserire dalla semplice mappa sino a cose molto più.. complicate.
Segui le istruzioni nel sito dell’autore (ci sono tutti gli esempi con i codici sotto ad ogni mappa) e nella pagina del plugin su wordpress.org

Immagino ti manca l’API e per quello non vedi la mappa.
Dopo che l’API è nel campo apposito del plugin ed hai salvato da google crei una mappa; in un post scrivi del testo:::
bla bla vla vla la mia mappa bla vla bla vla
Usi “la mia mappa” come anchor test; cioè selezioni e nell’editor clicchi sull’iconcina link. Incolli il link della mappa di google e salvi. Andando all’anteprima del post o pubblicandolo quel link mostra la tua mappa.

Ho visto gli esempi ma non riesco a capire come faccio a trasformare il mio indirizzo di mappa “http://goo.gl/maps/GE2P”

Ti logghi su google crei una mappa .. quel link lo incolli usando l’apposito tasto nell’editor (selezionando il testo che farà da ancoraggio) e NON incollandolo nel post come hai fatto qui sopra..

Ok ho trovato, il problema era che, se non salvavo la mappa in “le mie mappe”, non vedevo il bottone “Visualizza in Google Earth”, ora lo vedo, copio l’indirizzo e faccio le prove

Beh ovvio che la mappa deve essere tua, sennò perché l’API?
Prelevato l’indirizzo della mappa, come spiega l’autore del plugin nella foto di esempio, per inserirlo nel post non c’è un pulsante specifico; semplicemente usi il normale pulsante dell’editor di wordpress per inserire i link .. vedi come fa l’autore nella seconda foto con scritto “Open the post, create a link”

Sono riuscita a vedere la mappa con un codice tipo questo:
e poi ho provato anche senza il link in quest’altro modo:
funzionano tutte e due i modi ma non vedo il marker.
Ho guardato l’esempio 7 dell’autore del plugin (dove ci sono i marker) e se non ho capito male devo fare un fare xml, è cosà¬? come lo collego poi a tutte e due i miei esempio?

Beh immagino che i market li crei nella mappa da google, e quando questa verrà salvata nelle tue mappe sarà completa anche dei marker.. a quel punto segui tutto ciò che abbiamo già detto.. prelevi il codice e lo usi nel sito.
L’esempio 7, se ti riferisci a questo esempio, credo sia un ibrido.. nel senso che la mappa è un file gpx salvato nella cartella uploads e i marker sono dei link. Bisogna studiarci su un attimo per capire come si fa; dopo qualche tentativo penso non sia difficile trovar la giusta strada.

Forse è colpa mia che consiglio plugin perfetti e completi, ma un po’ più complessi nell’uso..
Per delle semplici mappe da creare nell’editor di wordpress, si può usare anche il plugin umapper che, spero, sia più semplice.

Ho avuto modo di dare uno sguardo poco più approfondito; quel tipo di mappa, intendo quella dell’esempio numero 7 del link, è un file .gpx nella cartella uploads. Quello di esempio pare generato con un navigatore garmin.
Ora se te dalla semplice mappa (come avevi chiesto) desideri anche addentrarti nella più complessa struttura del creare mappe xml.. trovi le spiegazioni qui:::

Si è giusto, io vorrei solo una semplice mappa con il marker che indica la posizione e basta, almeno per ora, vorrei cominciare dalle cose più semplici
Ho riguardato ‘le mie mappe’ nel mio google maps e li c’è il mio bel marker
Anch’io pensavo che se lo sarebbe portato dietro il marker invece vedo perfettamente la mappa ma non il marker
Non è che devo settare qualche parametro per farglieli vedere?

Evidentemente anche se su google il marker lo hai messo, e copi la giusta url, non compare. Il marker lo puoi creare usando kml o xml..
Esiste un altro plugin per le mappe, chiamato umapper; questo direi è un po’ più semplice poiché la mappa la crei direttamente dal suo menù che appare nell’editor di WordPress. Io li uso entrambi.
Con umapper, ottenuta l’api registrandosi nel sito e attivato il plugin, potrai creare mappe da molti servizi: google, yahoo, bing, openstreet, ecc.; con tanto di marker e altre funzioni.
Unico problema è che google limita la risoluzione delle mappe create con l’api fornita da servizi esterni.. cioè la mappa non arriverà ad una risoluzione di zoom come quando visualizzata da googlemaps.

Non ho idea poiché l’ho istallato su diversi siti ma non son io a farne uso (al momento l’ho usato giusto per inserire mappe senza marker e inoltre utilizzo anche umapper).
Però, non avendo avuto richieste di assistenza, significa gli utenti di quei blog riescono ad ottenere i risultati desiderati.
Semmai farò la prova in una mia installazione, o in locale.

mi arrendo…desisto…dopo quattro giorni di prove e 12 plugin diversi di google maps provati, rinuncio a farli funzionare con questo tema (ahimè) comprato.
tutti quanti non funzionano( o non si vede la mappa o si vede male), dall’autore del tema non ho risposte per cui, almeno per ora, mi sposto su un tema più semplice (gratis) dove vedo già che funzionano molto meglio
