Ho un fornitore di hosting americano dove mi appoggio per i miei siti e quelli dei clienti, il classico reseller account, linux, php5, ecc. Purtroppo non riesco a far funzionare la funzionalità integrata direttamente in WP per gli aggiornamenti automatici, sia di WP stesso sia dei vari plugin. Anche l’installazione diretta di nuovi plugin non va a buon fine. Ho provato con diverse installazioni di WP (2.7, 2.7.1, italiano e inglese), anche con installazioni nuove (impostazioni di default, nessun plugin, ecc.), niente.
In ogni caso ricevo i seguenti messaggi (il primo è in una versione inglese ma succede la stessa cosa anche in italiano):

Da notare che la cartella “upgrade” viene creata correttamente in “wp-content” ma poi più nulla, vuota. I permessi sono 755 (ho provato anche 777).
Cosa potrebbe essere? Grazie per qualsiasi informazione utile!

controlla il proprietario delle cartelle ci è.
verifica se il safe mode è attivato

Il safe mode è off. Il proprietario delle cartelle è lo stesso utente impostato come utente del pacchetto di hosting, quindi lo stesso utente che utilizzo per l’accesso diretto al server via ftp.

allora il problema non è da poco. Dovresti chiedere se per caso hanno una politica particolare per i permessi

Proverò a chiedere. Per conoscenza come dovrebbe essere l’impostazione corretta per i permessi? Il safe mode è giusto che sia disabilitato?

si safe disabilitato è giusto, i permessi di base dovrebbero esse 755 per le dir e 644 per i files.

puoi vedere i log del server e vedere che errore hai?

no, a livello di server non vedo i log, solo quelli a livello del singolo utente (che non hanno nessun errore). Comunque, tempo fa, avevo già cercato di risolvere il problema con il mio fornitore di hosting e loro dicevano che nei log del server non c’erano errori…

Se può essere utile per cercare di capire il problema: con una versione di WP 2.6 (anche con una 2.6.5), sullo stesso server, gli aggiornamenti automatici dei plugin vanno a buon fine, nessun problema. Solo dalla 2.7 in avanti che non si riesce a far niente…

Nulla da fare, le ho provate tutte ma non si riesce a risolvere il problema. Ho chiesto aiuto anche al mio fornitore di hosting ma secondo loro è tutto ok: i permessi sono corretti, non hanno restrizioni particolari, gira tutto su PHP5, nei log del server purtroppo non ricevono nessun tipo di errore. Secondo loro può essere qualcosa relativo al codice di WP.
Ieri ho fatto delle prove con delle nuove installazioni di WP: versione 2.6 e 2.6.5 l’aggiornamento dei plugin funziona, versione 2.7.1 non funziona nulla, si riesce solamente a cancellare dal server i plugin esistenti, il resto niente.
Idee?

onestamente no, bisognerebbe capire a questo punto se per caso è un bug di wp.

Grazie Wolly, che fortuna che ho… mi prendo anche il bug di WP
Comunque non è un grosso problema, certo è che sarebbe comodo fare gli aggiornamenti diretti… vediamo se nelle prossime versioni cambia qualcosa.
Magari provo a scrive qualcosa anche nel forum inglese e vediamo che dicono.
