Sto installando sul mio blog il plugin per wordpress ‘Global Translator’. Come potete vedere, nel momento in cui vado sulla bandierina inglese, mi dice
Pagina non trovata! – Codice 404. Nel file readme.txt incluso nel plugin, vengono specificati gli eventuali problemi che potrebbero sorgere. Nel mio caso:
= Page Not Found (404) when clicking on a translation flag =
This is often due to a conflict with another plugin or to a custom .htaccess file which doesn’t permit Global Translator to add its custom permalink rules. In order to identify the problem, try to deactivate all the other existing plugins and if nothing change check your .htaccess file and comment out all the non-standard rewrite rules.
Disinstallando tutti i plugin ad eccezione di questo, il problema che si manifesta è lo stesso…Andando a cercare quindi il file .htaccess, mi sono accorta che nel mio tema non è stato incluso. E’ possibile secondo voi che non ci sia? In tal caso, potrei crearlo io. Qualcuno mi può gentilmente dire dove dovrei metterlo e quali righe di codice dovrebbe contenere? grazie mille

il file .htaccess non esiste nella distribuzione di wordpress e comunque non si trova nel tema ma nella directory principale di WP. Viene creato quando si impostano i permalink da pannello di amministrazione di WP. Puoi quindi crearlo scegliendo una struttura permalink diversa da quella base, reimpostando poi quella base il file rimane ma sarà vuoto.
Se cambiando permalink non riesce a creare il file apparirà un messaggio che ti dice perchè, solitamente non ha i permessi di scrittura…
Se usi un hosting window con IIS come server invece di apache non puoi avere un file .htaccess

Avevo cambiato le impostazioni dei permalink scegliendo l’opzione Basato su data e nome. Reimpostando l’opzione standard, non mi dà più l’errore di Codice 404 nel plugin…ma del file .htaccess nessuna traccia. nemmeno nella dir principale di wp..naturalmente uso apache.

il file .htaccess iniziando con un punto è un file normalmente invisibile, usando un programma FTP devi solitamente specificare di voler visualizzare i file invisibili (opzione presente in qualsiasi programma abbia mai usato).
