Ho da poco finito di localizzare il tema Sandbox!
Inserito i MO e PO creati con poEdit dentro la dir del tema e subito, al primo click tutte le traduzioni funzionavano.
Vorrei ringraziare tutti quanti mi hanno dato pazientemente delle dritte, senza le quali non sarai arrivata cosଠrapidamente alla meta.
Quando mi sono ingrippata ho usato il vostro PO come esempio per vedere come si fa.
Francamente, devo pure dire che gli autori di Sandbox l’hanno preparata in modo eccellente.
Devo dire che localizzare è un’attività che mi piace.

Devo dire che localizzare è un’attività che mi piace.
In effetti è gratificante vedere che ogni tanto le cose funzionano meglio per merito nostro!
A me piace soprattutto andare a correggere le interpretazioni che altri hanno dato al testo durante la traduzione

Infatti, mentre avevo aperto il PO vostro per capire certi particolari della traduzione, ho subito colto l’occasione e cambiato alcune parole che da tempo mi turbavano. Per esempio, ora la mia interfaccia admin dice di nuovo “Howdy”. E Matt che mi saluta, e lui è texano e non può negarlo. Sono dell’avviso che il Howdy non andrebbe localizzato. IMO, IMO, IMO ovviamente.
Cos’è etrans? Già il nome sa di open source e quindi problemi

Non è Matt ma è WP che saluta, ergo va tradotto, come hanno fatto nella pratica tutti i tema di localizzazione di WP. Altre parole, nella localizzazione italiana, sono rimaste in inglese perchè di uso oramai conosciuto anche a chi non parla inglese, è il caso della parola tag, che quando usata per i templates tag è stata tradotta come marcatore, mentre in WP rimane tag (si è solo eliminato la forma plurare, secondo le regole della grammatica italiana) perchè marcatore o etichetta non sono parsi al sottoscritto una valida alternativa di traduzione.
Entrans è un sistema per permettere una traduzione collaborativa di file .PO via web, ciò non significa che in futuro ognuno potrà tradurre quello che vuole come vuole in WP (nelle distribuzioni ufficiali ovviamente, se poi sulla sua installazione vuol tradurre post con palo invece che articolo libero di farlo. Potrà suggerire traduzioni sia di stringhe nuove che di quelle esistenti, sarà poi l’amministratore o gli amministratori ad accettare o meno tali traduzioni.
Occorrerà anche creare un glossario per alcuni termini, cosଠche nella traduzione di plugin già internazionalizzati si utilizzi una uniformità nella traduzione di alcune parole.
Lo scopo principale di entrans più che la localizzazione di WP è quella di mettere online molti .po di plugin e temi già internazionalizzati ma di cui manca la localizzazione per distribuire gli sforzi fra più utenti in maniera coordinata e gestire le correzioni, imperfezioni, errori di battitura dei file di traduzione di WP.

Quando lancio WP io ci vedo Matt che mi saluta e perciò ogni mia istallazione privata da ora in avanti dirà Howdy. Per quanto riguarda la versione ufficiale invece, mi rimetto al parere degli amministratori. E ci mancherebbe
Entrans mi sembra una cosa meravigliosa. (Ci ho fatto una ricerca su Google nel frattanto)
Non potrei essere più d’accordo. Il mondo ha bisogno di simili iniziative e quando funzioneranno sarà migliore, il mondo. Volentieri ci collaborerò per quanto può essere di mia competenza. Mettere online i PO di plugs a temi permetterà a chiunque, anche senza conoscenze informatiche di munirsi di PoEdit e creare la traduzione di suo gradimento: magari in ladino occidentale, che mi raccomando è da non confondere con quello orientale.
E ambedue ormai vengono parlati da pochissime persone. Diamoli la possibilità di farsi dei blog nelle loro lingue! Cosଠpotranno comunicare tra di loro e – cosa non indifferente – lasciare traccia scritta. Futurti studiosi godranno di questo materiale.
Vorrei in ultimo farvi notare una cosa: qui spesso e giocofoza si parla di POT, PO e MO. Sarebbe desiderabile scrivere questi acronimi sempre allo stesso modo e magari secondo i dettami dell’ortografia italiana.
Noto invece una grande variazione che va da pot a .pot a POT e a .POT, etc. Per non parlare delle varianti file/s .pot, .POT, pot, POT, etc.
Forse avrete notato che io uso le grafie POT, PO e MO in modo consistente (salvo errori di battitura). Lo faccio a ragion veduta. Potete sincerarvi anche voi leggendo la pagina qui sotto:

L’accademia della Crusca si trova a Firenze e da secoli è considerata a livello nazionale e internazionale la massima autorità per la lingua italiana. Io mi ci sottometto volentieri
