Premesso che non ho alcuna base per interpretare il linguaggio del file in oggetto, molto cocciutamente voglio installare word press. Vi chiedo quindi le seguenti informazioni indispensabili per procedere:
1. E’ proprio necessaria la modifica del file httpd.conf anche se non ho intenzione di gestire più di un sito?
2. se proprio lo devo manomettere, dove devo mettere le mani? La guida non specifica….
L’entry <virtual host> non c’è nel mio file!!! La devo aggiungere io con le informazioni fornite nel tutorial?

Nel caso voglia creare un percorso personalizzato basta aggiungere una entry <virtul host> come da te specificato, nella documentazione c’è tutto ed è facile effettuare la modifica. Nel caso non voglia manomettere il file, ricorda comunque di effettuare un backup (nel caso usassi linux te lo fa da solo), puoi sempre mettere il tutto nella cartella www e richiamare il blog tramite tuodominio/cartella

Aspetta, forse non è cosଠsemplice…
Il file httpd.conf può richiamare un file, dentro Apache, che si chiama httpd-vhosts.conf.
Nel file httpd.conf troverai quindi un # davanti alla scritta “Include… httpd-vhosts.conf“, che si trova proprio sotto a:
#VirtualHosts
Quindi se vuoi attivare più host virtuali devi togliere il cancelletto da “Include…” ed andare a modificare quel file li.
Io ci sono riuscito con un host soltanto, ma non con 2, quindi cerco qualcos’altro sul forum…
Ti spiego però cosa ho fatto:
Inizialmente nella root avevo una cartella chiamata wordpress, e non avevo ancora usato host virtuali, quindi per vedere il Blog dovevo digitare:
Poi ho configurato quel file degli host virtuali con un host:
– Nella host table di quel server c’era solo una entry, quella di default
– Ho creato un host virtuale come *80
– Ho dato come cartella di root …/wordpress
– Ho dato come Name Server localhost
– Ho creato un file di log specifico per l’host virtuale
Ho ottenuto che non c’era più bisogno di digitare:

E questo è molto bene, peccato che non sono riuscito a replicare la cosa con 2 host virtuali… quindi la cosa mi serve a poco…
Il lato positivo è che alla fine non è indispensabile fare ciò, perché puoi fare quanti Blog o siti vuoi se visiti le sottocartelle; puoi ottenere quindi:
