Buongiorno,
ho installato l’ultima versione di WordPress e ho scelto il tema Sydney, quindi ho installato il plugin NextGEN per inserire una slideshow in una pagina del sito che sto facendo. Il problema che mi trovo ad affrontare è che sembra che ci sia una dimensione massima per la slideshow. Ho scelto come tipologia di galleria quella indicata con NextGEN Basic Slideshow.
Volevo inserire immagini a una larghezza di 700px ma mi dà al massimo un valore di 600*400, pur avendo modificato la width nel css personalizzato relativamente alle classi dei div che contengono le immagini e delle immagini stesse.
In particolare le classi ngg-slideshow e image-placeholder sembra che non accettino valori di width maggiori di 600px.
Sono andato anche a modificare le impostazioni del plugin in ‘Gallery Settings’ -> ‘NextGEN Basic Slideshow’ -> ‘Maximum dimensions’ aumentando il valore di larghezza a 700px ma non ha alcun effetto, le immagini restano a 600px.
Qualcuno saprebbe dirmi gentilmente cosa mi sfugge o se semplicemente non è possibile fare quello che voglio fare?

Cancella la cache immagini di Nextgen, e se hai un plugin che fa cache cancella anche quella.
Inoltre ti ricordo che in presenza di un valore differente scelto nella pagina in cui mostri l’oggetto Nextgen, questo sovrascrive il valore immesso nelle impostazioni generali.
E poi non c’è bisogno di (=non devi) usare i CSS per modificare la dimensione dello slideshow o di qualsiasi immagine: è ovviamente un’opzione base essendo la prima scelta personale di tutti, e si modifica sempre e solo con le normali impostazioni del plugin, in bacheca (a parte il fatto che non dici come lo hai modificato e potresti aver sbagliato).
C’è poi il discorso della larghezza del layout del tema che potrebbe essere inferiore alla misura da te richiesta, e non si capisce se con “ma mi dà al massimo un valore di 600*400” ti riferisci alla dimensione dell’immagine come la vedi, o eventualmente al fatto che le opzioni non salvano una misura diversa: questo non avrei dovuto chiederlo se tu avessi messo l’URL della pagina con il problema (già richiesto nel grande box qua sotto), necessario se non risolvi cancellando la cache e vuoi ulteriore aiuto.
In ogni caso ripristina il file CSS originale se hai modificato quello o cancella la tua modifica nel foglio stile messo a disposizione dal plugin tra le opzioni se lo hai scritto là¬.

Ho cancellato adesso la cache del plugin, ma non cambia la situazione. Purtroppo il sito è in locale e non posso quindi postare un URL. Il problema comunque è che non trovo in bacheca le opzioni del plugin per cambiare le dimensioni delle immagini visualizzate. Ho trovato quelle delle thumbnail, ma per quanto riguarda quella che viene definita Basic Slideshow (quindi con una sola immagine senza miniature da ingrandire) l’unico campo che trovo è Maximum Dimensions.
Ho cambiato le regole di stile nel foglio che il plugin mette a disposizione per il CSS personalizzato perchè volevo adattare le dimensioni delle immagini alle diverse risoluzioni. Fin quando era al di sotto o uguale di 600px ciò mi è stato possibile, quando ho scelto una width:700px per gli schermi grandi, la modifica non ha effetto, cioè se vado a controllare le dimensioni nello strumento del browser per l’analisi degli elementi mi continua a dare il valore 600px. Il layout ha larghezza maggiore, quindi non dovrebbe essere quello il problema.
Grazie comunque per la risposta, purtroppo c’è qualcosa che non fa funzionare le cose, qualcosa va in conflitto. Se potete dirmi come arrivare alle impostazioni per la scelta delle dimensioni della slideshow (per il plugin in questione) tramite pannello di wordpress perchè finora non ci sono riuscito.

Galleria > Impostazione Galleria > Slideshow Base > dimensione massima, è quello il campo per modificare le dimensioni.
Poi sempre per lo slideshow devi avere gli effetti, l’intervallo, mostra link miniatura, testo link miniatura – che però non c’entrano niente con le dimensioni. Adesso dici che ti mancano parte delle impostazioni, che è tutt’altro problema, e se davvero ti mancano significa che hai una versione corrotta del plugin oppure che hai conflitti con il tema o altri plugin, lo saprai se fai le prove richieste sempre nello stesso box che continui a non leggere: disattiva gli altri plugin e attiva un tema di default della serie Twenty di WP, solo cosଠsaprai se ci sono conflitti.
E, ripeto, non devi cambiare le dimensioni delle immagini via CSS. Non so cosa tu voglia fare né cosa vedi, non c’è bisogno di adattare niente, NextGen è già responsive.
Più di questo non so che dirti senza vedere la pagina – però fino adesso sono tutti non-problemi, si tratta solo di guardare le opzioni e le istruzioni del plugin, e come già detto si possono impostare opzioni “per-page” quando inserisci la galleria nella pagina, non so come tu possa non vederle se hai inserito una galleria in una pagina!
Quindi c’è solo da accertare se veramente non hai le opzioni, facendo come ti ho detto sopra.

ok grazie ho risolto il problema della larghezza massima, sono andato nelle impostazioni che si aprono dalla pagina dove ho caricato la galleria e ho portato da lଠil valore a 700px, mentre prima dalle impostazioni generali non aveva effetto.
Ora però c’è questa situazione: le immagini non sono sempre centrate all’interno della pagina (quando cambia la risoluzione), ma sono a sinistra (per questo non avendo trovato impostazioni per centrare ho pensato di cambiare il CSS).
Inoltre, corregetemi se sbaglio, sembra che NextGen richieda immagini quadrate o abbastanza vicine a quella forma, perchè nel momento in cui restringo la finestra per simulare il responsive, varia lo spazio vuoto tra l’immagine e l’elemento che sta al di sotto.
Per spiegarmi meglio: se sto a 320px il div che contiene la foto ha dimensioni 320*320 mentre la foto è 320*201, dovendo rispettare le proporzioni iniziali, per cui rimane uno spazio verticale di circa 120px.
Questo appunto perchè al di sotto di una certa risoluzione il div contenitore delle foto ha width e height uguali, mentre le foto caricate possono avere proporzioni diverse.

Certo che no. Nelle impostazioni generali hai il valore per ciò che inserisci da lଠin poi. Ovviamente facendo una galleria Nextgen crea le immagini a seconda della misura corrente nelle impostazioni, se vuoi cambiare le dimensioni di una galleria già pubblicata devi agire sulla galleria stessa cambiandone i valori e facendo ricreare le immagini – non è che cambiando il valore nelle impostazioni generali si possano (né si debbano) creare automaticamente nuove immagini con nuove misure nelle gallerie già utilizzate, è normale. Quindi se cambi il valore generale va da sé che avrà effetto sulle prossime gallerie che carichi. àˆ cosଠanche per la sezione media gallery di WP, o no?
Nextgen crea thumbnails on the fly, ciò significa che crea un nuovo set con nuove misure (dalle immagini originali che ha in cartella) quando le si cambiano in quella data galleria e le mostra nel momento in cui sono richieste: naturalmente per vederle con le nuove dimensioni è facile che occorra cancellare la cache immagini propria di Nextgen ed eventualmente la cache del sito se si usa un sistema di cache via plugin o altro.
Per quanto riguarda la centratura, c’è o non c’è – non conta la risoluzione se la vuoi per tutte le risoluzioni, e per farla occorre inserire qualche regola CSS.
E no, non si richiede nessuna forma particolare per le immagini, naturalmente ci sono misure/risoluzioni consigliate in relazione alla miglior resa, ma la forma è ininfluente – non esiste che si richiedano immagini quadrate. E senz’altro NextGen rispetta il ratio, oppure no se non vuoi che lo rispetti e allora imposterai il taglio… anche qui, stessa cosa con la media gallery nativa di WP, non stiamo parlando di niente di strano o diverso.
Detto questo, il problema che poi descrivi non è comprensibile né analizzabile e quindi non risolvibile senza vedere la pagina, come già detto. A tutto il resto ti ho risposto, ma su questo mi dispiace non posso farci nulla. Se stai parlando dello slideshow, è possibile che non si comporti come ti aspetteresti a seconda del tema utilizzato e anche questo è già stato detto (v. provare con un tema di default, consiglio caduto nel vuoto a quanto pare), quindi è anche possibile che tu debba agire sul tema e non su Nextgen.
Anche qualora decidessi di rivolgerti al loro forum di supporto dovrai mostrare la pagina live con il problema, quindi dovrai installare un sito di test on line per dargli modo di vedere in azione la cosa di cui parli.
àˆ evidente comunque che hai bisogno di imparare il funzionamento del plugin, QUI c’è la documentazione che ti consiglio di leggere.
