Ciao, ho un sito WordPress (ver 4.3.1) ospitato su mio server; recentemente ho cambiato il dominio, quindi ho semplicemente riconfigurato il webserver e ho impostato un redirect
(tramite htaccess) dal vecchio dominio al nuovo.
Infine ho utilizzato il plugin “Better Search Replace” per modificare tutti i riferimenti dal vecchio al nuovo dominio.
Ora il sito funziona correttamente ma occasionalmente, passando da una pagina all’altra, incorro in dei lag che mi costringono a ricaricare più volte. In sostanza il browser rimane in attesa di risposta, fino al timeout.
Questo accade casualmente e non in una pagina specifica, sia nel backend che nel frontend. A parte questo, la velocità è normale.
Ho pensato a problemi di loop redirect, ma ho controllato numerose volte il database e non ho trovato alcun riferimento sospetto al vecchio dominio.
Ho provato anche a disattivare tutti i plugin ma la situazione non cambia.
Qualche idea? Cosa posso controllare?

Da come lo descrivi sembra un problema del server, hai provato a controllare l’uptime del server?
Puoi utilizzare anche jetpack per farlo (ovviamente con tutti i limiti del caso!)

In che senso verificare l’uptime?
Il server è regolarmente attivo e funzionante… ho diversi siti ospitati (alcuni sviluppati in WP) e non riscontro problemi di sorta…

Ciao, se non pubblichi un link al tuo sito si possono fare solo ipotesi e supposizioni.
La visione diretta del sito può aiutare a capire qualcosa di più.

Il cambio dominio non c’entra, i tuoi problemi di lentezza sono dovuti ad un server configurato poveramente (ad es. non hai la connessione keep-alive né la compressione gzip), a livello di contenuti invece carichi un’enormità di file javascript (35!) e ben 13 fogli stile, quindi o diminuisci i plugin e/o cambi tema oppure disabiliti il loro caricamento manualmente dove puoi farlo – ed altre cose che puoi vedere da te:

Alcuni problemi li puoi risolvere usando un plugin come W3 total cache che, configurato in modo ottimale, dà ottimi risultati.

E’ vero che il sito è “pesante”, ma il problema non è quello.
Come dicevo, in maniera (apparentemente) casuale passando da una pagina all’altra il browser va in timeout. Non è una questione di lentezza.
Inoltre, prima del cambio dominio la reattività era buona, e il server è sempre lo stesso.
Proverò comunque anche con W3 Total Cache: grazie per la segnalazione!

Avevo già provato a navigare nel sito non notando nessun lag, quindi il timeout potrebbe anche essere un problema locale, di connettività , browser, OS o altro.
Controlla anche l’.htaccess e il wp-config, di non aver inserito strane regole, sul server devi inoltre controllare il quantitativo di memoria PHP e il log degli errori.
Anche qtranslate potrebbe dare questi problemi nel tentativo di duplicare la pagina.

E’ vero che il sito è “pesante”, ma il problema non è quello.
Insomma… solo il file immagine “slider_comunicazione_visiva.jpg” con dimensione di 5.467px x 3020px e risoluzione di 300dpi pesa più di 2 Mbyte, gli manca solo il profilo colore CMYK ed è pronto per la stampa tipografica per un cartellone stradale.
In totale ogni utente che si collega al tuo sito scarica circa 8 Mbyte di dati.
Segui i consigli che ti ha dato @Titti, in particolare attiva la compressione Gzip, cerca di ridurre il numero di richieste, sono davvero tante e ottimizza le immagini. Per il web 72dpi, la foto “slider_comunicazione_visiva.jpg” puoi ridurla a 1920px x 1061px che come peso la riduce a poco più di 300 Kbyte.

Sà¬, insomma, abbiate pazienza che forse non riesco a capire.
Sono consapevole della lentezza (che proverò a risolvere seguendo i vostri consigli), ma il problema che segnalo riguarda i lag in cui incorro quando clicco su un link: il browser rimane in attesa di risposta, come se il server non rispondesse proprio; questo succede in maniera sporadica e non ripetibile, e anche nel backend.
Il problema si è verificato **dopo il cambio di dominio**, mantenendo invariato server e contenuti.

il problema che segnalo riguarda i lag in cui incorro quando clicco su un link: il browser rimane in attesa di risposta, come se il server non rispondesse proprio
L’unica pagina su cui riscontro dei problemi è Login: http://rel2.strimy.it/index.php/users/login/
Sono errori 404 relativi ai seguenti file che non trova:
http://rel2.strimy.it/assets/js/jquery.tinysort.js
http://rel2.strimy.it/favicon.ico
Per tutto il resto, ho provato molte volte le varie sezioni con diversi browser, nessun problema a parte quelli elencati sopra.
