Salve, sto creando un catalogo prodotti (non sono moltissimi) diviso per categorie e sotto categorie. Visto che non ho bisogno della parte di ecommerce, pensate che è inutile l’utilizzo di plugin?
Io stavo pensando a qualcosa tipo CATABLOG o THECARTPRESS (Disattivando la parte di ecommerce).
Voi cosa consigliate? Forse è sufficiente creare un “articolo” per prodotto e suddividerli in categorie?
Se volessi renderlo multilingua, potrei avere problemi ad utilizzare solo articoli e categorie?

Eventualmente con un custom post type e forse qualche tassonomia ad hoc probabilmente risolvi ssenza plugin.

Innanzitutto ti ringrazio per la risposta.
Effettivamente vista la semplicità di ciò che devo realizzare, l’utilizzo di plugin di ecommerce, è eccessivo.
Ancora non conosco bene wordpress, sto leggendo qualche manuale online. Vediamo se ho capito i concetti di “post type” e “tassonomia”:
potrei creare un “post type” chiamato “Prodotti”, e varie tassonimie chiamate “Prezzo”,”Peso”,”Dimensioni”,etc…
E nel caso avessi già inserito i miei prodotti come articoli, se volessi farli diventare “Prodotti” dovrei andare sulla tabella “wp_posts” ed aggiornare il campo “post_type”
Mi confermi che quanto ho scritto è corretto oppure faccio confusione con i concetti base?

Confermo tutto… meno le tassonomie.
Le tassonomie vanno bene per classificare in maniera diciamo cosଠgranulare i post, se hai 100 oggetti con 100 dimensioni diverse avere una tassonomia dimensioni con 100 voci ha poco senso idem per prezzi e pesi. Avrebbe senso usare una tassonomia per delle taglie (S, M, L, XL) insomma per tutto quello che permette di classificare per grandi gruppi i tuoi prodotti. Nel caso una presunta tassonomia abbia un numero di voci molto vicino a quello degli oggetti che classifica forse non ha senso ed opterei in questo caso per dei metadati (campi personalizzati) che mantengano queste info.
Immagina degli elettrodomestici potrai avere lavatrici/frigoriferi etc i frigoriferi solo frigo/confreezer/combinati/congelatori idem per i televisori, ma già la capacità o le dimensioni sarebbero dati non da mettere in tassonomie mentre le classi energetiche si, i consumi in Kwh/anno no… etc. Insomma analizza bene i dati che devi gestire e scegli se usare tassonomie gerarchiche (come la categorie) lineari (come i tag) o i campi personalizzati. Spesso una combinazione di questi è la strada migliore.
