per consentire agli utenti di registrarsi nel mio blog, ho attivato l’opzione
“Chiunque può registrarsi”, dal pannello Impostazioni -> Generali.
Adesso quindi nell’home page del mio blog dovrebbe apparire da qualche parte una voce tipo “Registrati”.
Perchè non appare?

dalla dashboard, dovresti modificare una delle pagine create (o crearne una ex novo) e cambiare il suo template da ‘default template’ a ‘contact form template’. non so se nella versione italiana abbiano gli stessi nomi ma il procedimento è quello.

modificare la pagina… in che senso?
cambiare il template… lo devo scaricare da qualche parte?

allora.. quello di cui parlavo erano le pagine del sito. quando sei in dashboard, tra i pannelli links e commenti trovi le pagine del sito. se ne crei una nuova, troverai una piccola finestra (di norma è a destra) che si chiama ‘page attributes’ o ‘attributi pagina’. una delle voci al suo interno è ‘template’. dal menu a discesa puoi scegliere che modello dovrà avere quella specifica pagina: una delle opzioni è, appunto, ‘contact form template’. scegli quella, salvi e gli utenti potranno registrarsi al tuo sito.

simiwazhere si riferisce ad un template offerto dal suo tema, direi che si tratta di un form per contatti che permette anche la registrazione. La pagina di registrazione di WP esiste già , quindi perché farne un’altra, a meno che non si voglia qualcosa di particolare?
Comunque, più semplicemente:
1) Puoi usare il widget meta. Vedrai che, tra altre voci, da scollegato avrai anche il link ‘Registrati’. Avrai però anche le voci RSS e il link a WordPress
2) Se non vuoi quelle voci, puoi semplicemente usare un widget di testo inserendo il link alla pagina di registrazione (http://www.tuosito.xx/wp-register.php)
3) Se nessuna di queste due soluzioni ti va bene, puoi sempre cercare tra le decine di plugin che permettono la registrazione di utenti

tutto ok, ora funziona.
Ma c’è un modo per “obligare” un nuovo utente a scrivere i suoi articoli in una determinata categoria (non quella “predefinita”)?

Di default no, e c’è carenza di plugin a questo scopo.
Ne ho trovati due, ma il primo non è aggiornato da un po’ e l’altro non proviene dal repository di WP.
Tuttavia, entrambi possono funzionare, si tratta di provarli.
Il consiglio solito è sempre quello di fare backup di sicurezza prima di effettuare qualsiasi cambiamento.
