Carissimi amici wordpressiani (contrazione di wordpress italiani)
uso da diversi mesi WordPress con grande entusiasmo per la “facile complessità ” degli strumenti offerti.
In particolare trovo apprezzabile il sistema di aggiornamento dei plug in e della versione del core.
E’ noto che l’aggiornamento dei plugin (fatto appunto con una facilità encomiabile) è sempre un operazione a rischio (sia per il fatto che la compatibilità è affidata al produttore, sia per le eventuali modifiche apportate che potrebbero perdersi o entrare in conflitto.
Faccio la proposta di mettere nelle nuove versioni del core un sistema che possa mantenere sul server la versione precedente all’aggiornamento; nel caso si verificassero degli errori dovrebbe essere possibile rimettere in linea la versione precedente e aspettare una versione più stabile.
Realizzare questo sistema potrebbe essere semplice secondo questo metodo:
Per ogni plugin attivato esiste una cartella nome_del_plugin e una cartella nome_del_plugin_ultima_versione_funzionante.
Quando si avvia una procedura di aggiornamento plugin accadono queste cose:
1. La cartella nome_del_plugin viene copiata nella cartella cartella nome_del_plugin_ultima_versione_funzionante
2. Viene fatto l’aggiornamento normalmente
Di conseguenza riattivare l’ultima versione funzionante diventa un giochetto da ragazzi.
Questa procedura può essere anche fatta manualmente, ma includerla nell’aggiornamento sarebbe una “complicazione facile”

che sarebbe un proliferare di spazio consumato perchè rimarrebbero in continauazione le vecchie versioni con tutti i problemi del caso, poi se un plugin sega tutto devi cmq intervenire via ftp per ripristinar eil problema e poi è un doppione visto che prima di aggiornare si fanno sempre i backup di tutto.
