Salve a tutti, da un paio di mesi ho messo su un blog wordpress, e visto che gli articoli iniziano ad aumentare, ho pensato bene di fare un bel backup dell’intero sito, nel timore che qualcuno possa hackerarlo, o che qualche aggiornamento produca conseguenze nefaste.
Nella mia ignoranza in tema di php e mysql, ho creduto che bastasse accedere con il client ftp al server e copiare interamente sul proprio hard disk la directory in cui è stato installato wordpress, ma poi ho letto dell’esistenza di programmi come phpMyAdmin e m’è venuto il dubbio che il database venga scritto da qualche altra parte del server (altrimenti a che servirebbe quel programma? basterebbe copiare la directory col client ftp come ho fatto io…).
Chi è cosଠgentile da spiegarmi come stanno le cose?

Copiare il sito via FTP non basta visto che i dati sono nel database quindi occorre effettuare un backup del proprio DB periodicamente sia qua che sul blog se ne è parlato spesso… nella distro XXL noi distribuiamo un plugin che effettua il backup del DB e lo spedisce per email ad un proprio indirizzo (io uso un account gmail creato ad hoc per tutti i miei backup) su base giornaliera
Vi sono pluginc he fanno anche il backup dei dati (es. le immagini uploadate) ma quelle bene o male se uno tiene una copia delle immagini caricate sul proprio PC quando crea gli articoli si recuperano e comunque al massimo daranno articoli con immagini mancanti mentre i dati del DB se non li copi non te li potrà ripristinare mai nessuno.

Ho googlato un po’ e mi pare che WordPress Database Backup faccia al caso mio: è questo il plugin che usi tu?
Altra domanda, perdonami: alla luce di questa nostra discussione, mi par di capire che il database presente sul mio server sia unico.
E dunque, se adesso ho un blog all’indirizzo http://www.miosito.it/primoblog, che succede se piazzo sul server un secondo blog all’indirizzo http://www.miosito.it/secondoblog?
Utilizzeranno tutti e due lo stesso database presente sul server, o quello spazio sarà diviso fra due diversi e distinti database?
Lo chiedo perché stavo per piazzare sul server un secondo blog, per fare delle prove, ma se il database è unico temo che rischierei di incasinare tutto.
Grazie per gli aiuti: ti assicuro che guardo prima su google, ma di php e mysql sto a zero per cui non sempre mi è tutto chiaro.

se vuoi avere un’altra installazione di wordpress sullo stesso domino ti conviene cambiare prefisso alle tabelle del database di una delle due installazioni…che poi è un modo per rendere più sicuro il blog
