Ho letto un po di guide e ho fatto il backup del database e del sito da wordpress , ho salvato inoltre la cartella completa sul pc con filezilla, ho disattivato i plugins.
Se premo Aggiorna automaticamente (2.8ita) mi chiede le impostazioni di connessione.
Gli do:
Nome host: http://ftp.gofreeserve.com che uso per filezilla.
Nome utente e password ho messo quelle del sito che uso per filezilla.
Tipo di connessione FTP
Tuttavia ricevo sempre:
Impossibile trovare la directory di WordPress.

semplice se hai il blog tramite sottodominio dovrai mettere come ftp: http://ftp.osside.gofreeserve.com

Stavolta mi appare in alto un box con una scritta rossa che dice
Errore: Si è verificato un errore connettendosi al server, verificare che le impostazioni siano corrette.

Ho notato che wordpress e tutto il sito stanno nella sottocartella /htdocs ma anche se la metto nel percorso nulla…
Credo che i parametri corretti siano i primi, infatti carica molto poi mi dice che non trova la cartella di wp poichè è installato nella sottocartella /htdocs credo, provo con la manuale

L’ftp è quello che usi per connetterti tramite filezilla; idem per pass e user.
Per quanto riguarda il percorso, questo dove lo metti? Il percorso è un dato a parte rispetto all’indirizzo ftp. Sei sicuro che te lo chieda? E se sà¬, prendi in considerazione l’idea che possa trattarsi di un percorso assoluto, del tipo “httpdocs/miosito/”.

Il percorso non me lo chiede, ma wordpress è nella sottocartella /htdocs, quindi tu dici che non importa specificarlo e l’updater lo trova da solo?

la cartella htdocs è la cartella dove si trova il tuo sito ed è direttamente connessa al nome a dominio. Per farti un esempio, il mio sito è nella cartella httpdocs. Questa cartella ha rilevanza solo nelle path assolute (come nell’esempio precedente). Non dovrebbe influenzare la connessione ftp, poiché dovrebbe trovarla da sola.
Penso che l’errore sia nella connessione. Sei sicuro che hai scritto tutto in modo corretto?
Io ho un sito dove ogni volta che faccio l’aggiornamento mi richiede i dati ftp, e mi chiede:
a) indirizzo ftp –> http://ftp.miosito.it
b) user ftp –> user
c) pass ftp –> pass
infine mi chiede il tipo di connessione: ftp oppure fpts (ssl). Io ovviamente ho scelto la prima.
Tutto qui…
Verifica che i dati siano davvero corretti, ed eventualmente contatta il tuo hosting per chiedere spiegazioni del problema.

Ho verificato piu volte i dati, sono quelli corretti che leggo sia nel pannello sia in filezilla, inoltre ho provato varie opzioni, con ftp:// e col nome del mio sottodominio come suggeritomi sopra.
Comunque ho aggiornato manualmente, l’updater automatico dei plugin chiaramente mi da gli stessi problemi.
Mi spiace perchè sono funzioni molto comode, proverò ad aprire un ticket.

Nel ticket mi consigliano di usare questo plugin (WordPress Automatic upgrade):

Se lo lancio esce:
Congratulations!!! Your WordPress version is already up to date.
Per ora non ho modo di testarlo, ma non funziona mi pare per aggiornare i plugins.
Inoltre mi informano che i parametri da me usati sono corretti e con quel plugin altri e lui stesso aggiorna su freeserve.
